Active Managerial Control Training for Regulators
With FDA’s collaboration, AFDO has created this training specifically designed for state, local, territorial, and tribal regulatory agencies. This includes program managers and staff responsible for working on self-assessments or verification audits.
Currently, this training will only be offered up to twice a year.

AMC Training for Regulators will be a 9-hour session that takes real-world experiences to the next level (including ‘Explain, Demonstrate, Practice, and Follow-up’ training techniques, and various activities such as Train-the-trainer skill building). This engaging, hands-on course teaches participants how to train your staff in effectively evaluating Active Managerial Control (AMC) techniques.
The full day session focuses on evaluating and implementing Active Managerial Control (AMC) in retail food safety. Participants will learn to interpret Food Code regulations, understand the AMC Multiplier Effect, and differentiate between various training approaches. The training covers effective trainer qualities, teaching techniques, and strategies to empower staff in evaluating AMC. Emphasis is placed on knowledge calibration, preparation, collaboration, integrating various management practices to create a comprehensive system for controlling foodborne illness risk factors, and more.
