| Resolution Year 2001 Resolution Number 1: Food Code Revision and Edition Cycle (to reconsider AFDO Resolution Number Four, submitted June 8, 1997 by the AFDO Food Code Ad-hoc Committee)
Whereas, the regulatory process for states promulgating or amending rules or regulations have become more complicated and time consuming, and
Whereas, the states would need to update Food Code changes every two years to maintain uniformity and consistency with the code, and
Whereas, AFDO represents state food regulatory program officials and is the main supporter and promoter of uniformity in food regulation, therefore be it
Resolved, that AFDO ask FDA to publish new editions of the Food Code in cycles of six years rather than two years, and be it further
Resolved, that this request be presented at the Conference for Food Protection (CFP) 2002 meeting for deliberation, and be it further
Resolved, that where emerging public health issues call for FDA intervention that timely guidance be provided until this new information can become codified.
