Actions in support of AFDO activities:

¨       Hired and organized part time staff at AFDO headquarters to make the most effective use of very limited resources.

¨       One employee, who was hired on a consultant-contract basis, continued to assist in gathering, compiling, and analyzing data received in fulfillment of the Food Code contract with FDA.

¨       The Technical Grants Administrator continued to manage AFDO’s current grants (6) and to pursue, when appropriate, additional grant opportunities.

¨       Board approval was given to the Executive Director to increase the part time position to a full time position.  In lieu of this, an additional part time employee was added. 

¨       Enlisted assistance in coordinating development and delivery of training.

Ø       Larry Upjohn, Chair of AFDO’s Drugs, Devices, and Cosmetics Committee, for training issues related to drugs, devices or cosmetics.

Ø       Dan Sowards, past AFDO president, for training issues related to food.

Ø      Appointed a workgroup co-chaired by Doug Saunders, John Tilden and Paul Tierney to begin the development of providing training, communication and coordination to local, state, federal regulatory agencies as well as industry with regard to a national biosecurity strategy.
