¨ Renewed the following contracts with federal agencies. These contracts generate revenue for AFDO and provide the contracting agency with requested information, data, or service. Contracts in progress are:
Ø States Helping States – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Ø FDA – tracking and reporting the nationwide adoption of the FDA Food Code by State, Local and Tribal government agencies.
Ø USDA/FSIS – providing train-the-trainer courses to each Regional Affiliate association on Retail Meat and Poultry Processing.
Ø USDA/FSIS – developing model guidelines and proposing training programs for State oversight of custom exempt slaughter operations.
Ø USDA/CSREES – identifying training needs and developing training for state and local food safety agencies, and developing advisories and variances, related to high-risk food-processing activities in the retail environment.
¨ Completed the application of a negotiated indirect cost rate for all grant budgets, enabling AFDO to recoup operational overhead costs associated with administering each grant. Indirect cost rate proposal was approved.
¨ Developed and delivered a series of training programs, which included food allergen issues, meat and poultry processing at retail, and cGMP’s for the Pharmaceutical Industry.
¨ The AFDO Endowment Foundation:
Ø Continued to successfully promote increased donor participation.
- 2002/2003 Chair of the Associate Committee committed to an increased level of promotion/awareness of the Endowment Foundation to all AFDO members.
- The President made presentations at each Regional Affiliate association meeting stressing the importance of a fully funded Endowment Foundation and encouraging all AFDO members to become contributors to the Foundation.
- Sent a letter to all AFDO members prior to the end of the calendar year to encourage year-end contributions.
- Began development of an informational brochure to promote the Foundation and its’ objectives. The brochure will be used to assist in fundraising endeavors.
