AFDOSS

The Association of Food and Drug Officials of the Southern States (AFDOSS) is a Regional Affiliate of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO).  AFDO is an international non-profit democratically run organization. Membership includes members from local, state and federal regulatory agencies, regulated industry and academia who are concerned with the development and enforcement of uniform food, drug and consumer product safety laws and regulations.

AFDOSS is comprised of food and drug officials and interested associates in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.


Through resolutions, AFDOSS submits recommendations to the international association (AFDO) for suggested actions needed in the aforementioned areas.  The end result is the development of "model bills", the encouragement of training, and the overall implementation of sound and effective consumer protection regulation.

CASA
In 1916, food and drug officials in the Central Atlantic States organized for the purpose of improving coordination among local, state, and federal government agencies. This group of individuals became a professional association known as the Central Atlantic States Association of Food and Drug Officials. Today, its objectives continue to:

  1. Promote and foster uniformity of laws affecting foods, drugs, devices, and cosmetics

  2. Encourage and promote enforcement of all applicable laws and regulations

  3. Encourage and support programs and work in cooperation with other professional and industry groups to contribute to and advance consumer protection

  4. Provide technical training and professional development programs

  5. Encourage and promote cooperative enforcement programs among local, state, and federal agencies

  6. Cooperative with AFDO and other organizations having similar objectives

  7. Foster and promote modernization of laws, regulations, policies, as well as, inspection and analytical techniques used to manufacture and distribute foods, drugs, and devices, and cosmetics

  8. Improve communication among government officials, industry representatives, academes, and consumers

    MCAFDO
    The Mid-Continental Association of Food and Drug Officials is a regional affiliate of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO). It is comprised of food, drug, and consumer product safety officials and associate members organized to improve cooperation in the development and enforcement of uniform food, drug, and consumer protection legislation.

    NCAFDO
    The North Central Association of Food and Drug Officials (NCAFDO) is a regional affiliate of AFDO, the international Association of Food and Drug Officials. Our mandate is to encourage uniformity in the enactment and enforcement of laws affecting foods, drugs, cosmetics, devices and consumer products at all levels of government. We encourage and support programs which contribute to consumer protection, and assist members by providing technical training opportunities to ensure uniformity of inspection and analytical techniques. Our partnership is based on our commitment to good communication and cooperation among our members, as well as with other associations and groups of food, drug, consumer product and public health officials.

    NEFDOA
    NEFDOA is a regional affiliate of the Association of Food and Drug officials, AFDO and is comprised of food, drug, health, consumer protection, safety and industry officials in the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont and the Atlantic Provinces, New Brunswick, New Foundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Prince Edward Island and Quebec in Canada.

    WAFDO
    The Western Association of Food and Drug Officials organized for the purpose of improving communication and cooperation with the respective local, state, and federal programs, and for promoting the development and enforcement of uniform food, drug, and consumer protection laws, WAFDO continues to grow and become more active.
