How is the Foundation Managed?
The Foundation was created by the AFDO Board of Directors. A Board of Trustees manages the Foundation and all of the Trustees are from the private sector or former government employees. In order to avoid any conflict of interest, current government officials are not able to serve as Trustees. A list of contributors and the total amount of contributions received will be published annually.
How the Funds are Used?
The Foundation was pleased to make available, for the very first time in its then eight-year history, a substantial amount of money in 2002 to enable many of the government representatives from 44 states to attend the highly successful Food Biosecurity Symposium presented by AFDO in New Orleans. Funds from the Foundation went directly for travel expenses permitting many state regulators to participate who would otherwise not have attended. It will be the practice of the Foundation Board to solicit the advice of AFDO, its Board, and the regional affiliate organizations on the best use of its income.
