What is the Purpose of the Foundation?

The AFDO Endowment Foundation was established in 1993 by the AFDO Board of Directors with the express purpose of raising a permanent endowment fund, to provide support to AFDO's educational and scientific mission.  Segregated and separated from the general operating budget, the Endowment Fund is administered by its own Board of Trustees consisting of 14 AFDO members from the private sector or former government employees.

Why Does AFDO Need a Foundation?

For federal, state and local regulators, budgets in lean years often treat the important programs offered by AFDO as luxuries rather than the recognized means of furthering both goals of uniformity and individual professional development.

It is vital that AFDO, if it is to continue to play its historic and significant role in promoting national uniformity, must also continue to effectively provide AFDO and regional affiliate membership with the opportunity to participate in its scientific and educational programs.

What is Needed?

Calling on the generosity of both government and private sector members, the goal of the Endowment Fund was set at $1,000,000, the amount minimally necessary to provide a viable source of recurring income to enable meaningful support of participation in the educational and scientific AFDO programs threatened by shrinking federal, state and local money available for such programs.
